Not as bad as I thought it would be. However there are some inconsistencies. In the original, Macready and company are looking at video from the Norwegian POV and there are explosions shown to unearth the vessel, but it is not shown in this movie.
Another was the entrance that leads directly into the surface of the alien ship. Where is it in the original? All I could think is that there maybe was a cave in after M.E. Winstead's character left to go to the Russian base.
Other than that, the film is pretty standard. No Rob Bottin special effects. What a bummer! However, the ending is exceptional. Recommended for those hardcore John Carpenter fans of the original.
