Lacks the tension, interesting characters, and atmosphere of John Carpenter's The Thing which is my all time favorite horror film. Awful CGI effects pretty much ruin the fun and prove that practical effects are better.
Still, this a "watchable" horror film that still ends up being better than most these days.
