The remake is good and well executed. However, I would have to say the original is better. In this one, The Thing is an entity and can be seen whereas in the original, it was never seen alone so it would be added on to the suspense.
It had to be one of the people. That doesn't happen in this remake, but still the movie is good and all the people that have seen the original, should see the remake.
