Review of The Thing (2011) by James M — 23 Oct 2012
This movie angered me when I discovered of its creation and it angered me even more upon watching it. Having a fondness for John Carpenter's 1982 version (which, in turn was based upon a 1951 B-movie) I thought I'd give this a chance because I was led to believe it was a prequel rather than a remake. It isn't, it's a remake and a shoddy one at that! The only reference to it being a prequel comes in the end credit sequence and that just isn't enough. It also substitutes the paranoia in a claustrophobic environment for cheap shock tactics and awful CGI gore effects. The entire cast look like they've been to the Kirsten Stewart School Of Acting and there is no chemistry between any of the cast.
This is a f**king crime against John Carpenter's horror masterpiece! Watch the 1982 version instead, modern US Horror movies are terrible!!
