This is my favorite John Carpenter movie...from beginning to end, it's entertaining and at a time that didn't use stop motion effects or CGI, it was very well made...It's eerie in that the outpost is remote and this "thing" chose the right setting to try and conquer Earth.
..I would have loved for this to spawn a sequel but, I understand if the director doesn't wish to do so...
