This Movie is one of the best remakes in my opinion. Rob Bottin did a fine job mastering the effects in this movie. Apparently the original (the thing from another world) is meant to be Jon carpenters favourites and tried not to copy it and did a really good job.
One of the differences being: The thing from another world was based in the Arctic and The Thing was based in the Antarctic.
