Review of The Thing (1982) by Tony M — 01 Aug 2015
A group of antarctic researchers adopt a dog, but uh-oh! Turns out the dog is an overly friendly alien, who teaches the gang the true meaning of togetherness!
One of the all-time best sci-fi movies, with perhaps arguably the scariest creature in film. The Thing combines spectacularly gruesome special effects with chilling isolation and crushing paranoia to create both a visually terrifying and mentally taxing thriller. While the monster effects may overshadow the story at times, Kurt Russell and Keith Davids are wonderfully entertaining characters and the rest of the cast do a fine job of adding to the suspense. Truly, a masterpiece.
