One of the greatest horror films of all time and also one of my favourites. John Carpenter's classic is a remake of the original lightweight 1950s original. All of Carpenter's traits are embedded in this production.
A fantastic music, simplistic yet perfect for the mood. The suspense and isolation the viewer feels being in Antarctica. Last but certainly not least are the visual horror scenes employing state-of-the-art animatronics that still hold up well today, from an era before CGI.
The tension, suspense and believable acting are consistent. There are no poor segments in this film. I have seen this a number of times over the decades and I always feel moved after watching it. If you haven't seen this already, you are in for a big treat.
