Review of The Thin Red Line (1998) by Frances H — 17 Oct 2015
No war film has touched me so deeply since the 1930 All Quiet on the Western Front. In this film, Malick has used the camera, the music, th wonderful actors, voice overs, nature--in short, everything-- to put us as close to the individual soldier's war and thoughts as a director can.
The script is wonderful and the cinematography beautiful beyond words. The experience of this work is soul wrenching, and I almost doubt I could bear to see it again, although I am very thankful that I saw it once.
