Review of The Thin Red Line (1998) by Santosh S — 19 Jun 2010
I often find myself trying to decide which of Terrence Malick's films is my favorite, and I always come back to the same three films. Days of Heaven, The New World (The Extended Cut), and The Thin Red Line.
More often than not, I settle on The Thin Red Line, as it has such a visceral and emotional impact on me that I can't even begin to describe. Like all of Malick's films, it is one of the most visually beautiful films you'll ever see, but it also is crammed full of philosophy and geniune emotion that I dare you to not be moved beyond words by the time the credits roll.
Hans Zimmer's haunting score is also worth noting, as it's often the main piece of audio you'll be listening to.
