Most preeminent of all war films I've seen. A sagacious study of soldiers who are torn between the difference of the outcomes of the war. Terrence Malick's majestic direction; the potent cast, especially Sean Penn, Jim Caviezel, and Nick Nolte; and the momentousness of the picture, are just perfect!
