Review of The Thin Red Line (1998) by Deft G — 13 Dec 2010
Terrence Malick is cleaver, very cleaver. The amazing talent of taking Hollywood out of his films is what draws me to love them. The feeling of freedom to view his worlds in a full 360, following the characters on foot, showing us we are a part of the film not just spectators.
Terrific performances, all-star cast many with small time roles it's great to see actors just wanting to act. The narration is superbly timed and lets you inside the characters, the music by Hans is up to his standards.
To enjoy this film you must not feel awkward to feel, drop your guard, slow down, and simply enjoy another Malick masterpiece.
