Review of The Thin Red Line (1998) by Jacob G — 30 Dec 2010
Not sure what to make of this one. It had a lot of neat moments, but the film is over-long and disjointed so that it is hard to get in a groove. Characters weave in and out of the narrative almost at random, never staying long enough to really become emotional protagonists (though obviously they're the ones we root for).
Lots of big-name A-list actors, though many of them last for only one scene, such as George Clooney and John Travolta. A beautifully shot film, beginning to end... but I really felt it needed more cohesion.
