Review of The Thin Red Line (1998) by Siddhi S — 29 May 2011
Terrence Malick is such a brilliant visual poet. Orson Welles once said "A film is never really good unless the camera is an eye in the head of a poet." Malick is one of the most powerful poets in the medium, and that's why his movies are so beautiful and visually unparalleled.
The emotion in here is so raw, the inhumanity of the battlefield is gut wrenching, and the philosophy and underlying messages about life make it even more of human film. It was a little bit disjointed, but overall a really memorable experience.
