Review of The Thin Red Line (1998) by Scott C — 11 Nov 2012
Finally got round to seeing this a few weeks ago, and it was ruddy bloody good, actually. The soldiers' POV adopted throughout was especially effective, even though this gave rise to some very broad and difficult-to-make-out accents.
The frequent lapses into poetic/spiritual monlogues are something I personally could have done without, and add to the lumbering total running time, but the whole film is such a work of absorbing quality it's hard to find any real faults.
