Review of The Thin Red Line (1998) by Edgar C — 31 Dec 2012
Terrence Malick shakes your screen but also moves your soul with this psychologically deep and realistic war masterpiece. The pervasive meditations on the wondering thoughts of the troubled soldier about life and existence along with the menacing and imminent danger of Nature rebelling against man-made machinery and powder drastically surpasses any big budget, mainstream war film with unnecessary patriotic worshiping (yes, Spielberg, I'm talking to you). What a cathartic roller-coaster of destruction and hopelessness!
97/100.
