Review of The Thin Red Line (1998) by Paul M — 10 Aug 2013
One of the finest war films ever put on film, if not the finest. its perfectly shot, directed, and written. filled with an enormous cast of actors who are shown more as extras ( a disappointment for us, but for some reason, it feels very realistic).
the film shows a strange horrific poetry that speaks of war. my favorite line in the film is when John C. Reilly's character looks at an injured officer and says "I look at that guy, and I feel nothing".
its brilliant writing that really understands war and its horrors that it evicts onto these solders, destroying their innocence, breaking their senses.
