Review of The Thin Red Line (1998) by Ker Malkin G — 23 Mar 2014
Terrence Malick recruits seemingly every male actor in Hollywood to be in this movie. The Thin Red line is an excellent picture speaking on the horrors of war. But more than that it speaks on the content of the human soul.
Terrence, wonderfully ties christianity and a hope in salvation to a story about war. The running commentary provides a deep look into human emotion and desire. While many of the performances are not quite believable, the movie feels like its going to end the entire time, and you see way too many men cry, The Thin Red Line still maintains a running commentary that keeps the viewer engaged.
If, and only if, you allow yourself to become a part of the movie, and you relate the the idea of grace, salvation, hope and death, then you can begin to understand what is trying to be pushed here. A very powerful message wrapped in a complicated story.
Intriguing watch.
