Review of The Thin Red Line (1998) by John R — 01 Jul 2014
One of the best war films I've ever seen since Platoon and Saving Private Ryan and probably the best war film of all time. Based on a war novel of the same name, the story is unlike any war film shown.
With a narrative of the characters, we are given a more philosophical POV of war and the effects it has on the human mind and the world. Humanity is questioned in this film, making the film so in depth that only intellectuals actually enjoy it while the typical audience may feel bored due to too much on thought and not enough on mindless violence.
For those who want a realistic war film that gets you thinking, this is the film for you.
