Review of The Thin Red Line (1998) by Evan K — 14 Sep 2014
Not different enough from other Malick films and honestly this just doesn't work in my mind. 3 hours of the same voice over repeating, a milieu of very similar characters that don't develop, many similar shots with very laughable battle scenes.
Generally, the film comes in just as quickly as it leaves. Some strong points of it are a few key characters that have great interactions, and a strong sense of the chaos of war- but it really needs to be trimmed down to an appropriate length.
