Review of The Thin Man (1934) by Tori R — 03 Dec 2007
This is one of the greatest casted noir films I've ever seen! The characters all shine with exuberance and wit, which made the final "whodunit?" scene devastatingly disappointing. The flaw was how little Van Dyke touched on the suspects.
Clues are left to tickle our intuition, but in the end it really boiled down to "what-Nick-says-goes." Even if what Nick said was true, he had no substantial evidence to prove it (which makes the culprit even more stupid for pulling a gun on Nick! Sucks to be him) Oh well, at least we'll always have The THIRD Man with Orson Welles to save the noir genre from disappointments like this.
