Review of The Thin Man (1934) by Scott W — 04 Jun 2011
Many consider this one of the classic movies of the 1930s. I have to say I was a little disappointed - it was good but not great. The best thing the movie has going for it is definitely the chemistry between Powell and Loy.
Their back-and-forth has perfect timing. The problem is the overriding story is not all that interesting. And there are too many scenes where there are too many characters doing too many things at once.
I can appreciate a faster pace but I thought the better scenes were the ones that had a little room to breathe.
