Review of The Thief of Bagdad (1924) by Jim P — 11 Jul 2010
When a two and a half hour silent film holds your attention from start to finish you know it's a classic. Douglas Fairbanks was never better than this and though some of the primitive special effects seem like child's play compared to today's CGI, most of the images have more heart and creativity than anything produced these days.
This is what cinema is supposed to be for my money, a grand fantasy.
