Review of The Thief Lord (2006) by Daniel H — 23 Feb 2009
As films go this is seriously underrated!
The story is great, the acting varies from average to amazing (Aaron Johnson, Alexei Sayle in particular) But my main gripe is the editing! I just felt that even though it's 95 minutes long the plot feels too rushed in places. While this is essentially a UK film, if there had been some more Italian (if need be, with English subtitles?) it would have been made even more amazing.
Thankfully at least the film remains very true to the spirit of the book, a kind of crossover between Peter Pan and Oliver Twist. This is well worth a look!
