Review of The Theory of Everything (2014) by Roxanne R — 19 Mar 2015
My vote for Best Picture of the Year! A visual delight, moving, touching, romantic, factual and interesting. Inspired by the real life of world renowned astrophysicist Stephen Hawking played impeccably by Eddie Redmayne who won the coveted Oscar for best actor.
Felicity Jones plays his wife Jane Wilde. Stephen Hawking is a man that has defied the odds and surpassed not only scientific and medical boundaries but personal as well. Diagnosed at the age of 21 with a type of motor neuron disease called ALS, Hawking with the vital help of Jane, decides to finish his PHD thesis on time at Cambridge University.
The film is based on Jane Hawking's memoir Traveling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen. BRAVO to the cast and crew of this exceptional and epic motion picture that will have you crying and cheering for this remarkable couple.
Nominated for five academy awards and it won for best actor. I was surprised to see that Professor Hawking turned down the offer of a knighthood over 10 years ago on principle citing the UK government's mismanagement of science funding.
He has three children with Jane and they divorced some time ago. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED in Blu-ray, its a winner!!!
