Review of The Theory of Everything (2014) by Pete G — 29 Mar 2015
Redmayne and Jones are both powerhouses here, and their relationship is the most compelling force in the film. What's strange is how it seems to inadvertently (or purposefully?...) undermine Hawking's contributions to the scientific community.
His colleagues come across almost patronizing, and his theories, as expressed in the film, are thinly sketched. There's something disingenuous about the portrayal of his ideas that betrays Hawking's real life conviction.
