Review of The Theory of Everything (2014) by Matt-Chu P — 07 Apr 2015
Inspirational and heartwarming, The Theory of Everything is a touching drama about the extraordinary life of astrophysicist Stephen Hawking. Based on Jane Hawking's memoir the film follows her relationship with Stephen from when they met at Cambridge, to their building of a family, to the publication of his groundbreaking book A Brief History of Time.
Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones both give terrific performances; Jones in particular shows incredible depth, and delivers some powerful scenes. Additionally, the score is impressively well-done, and nicely accentuates the emotional currents of the material.
A remarkable film, The Theory of Everything is a testament to the strength of the human spirit.
