I generally don't like biopics. They tend to slip into lazy storytelling conventions that we've all seen many times before and end up having precious little of any interest to say. While this isn't a particularly worst case, it's not much different from your standard biopic.

It takes less than 5 minutes of screen time for our hero to essentially say the films title (I think characters should always look at the audience and wink when they do this), and it has its "You did it Pollock!" moment where somebody tells Hawking that he really got it, by Jove.

I don't care about any of this. Redmayne does a decent enough job, but this is no Oscar-worthy performance.
