Review of The Theory of Everything (2014) by Meredith W — 26 Jan 2016
"The Theory of Everything" is a biopic about Stephen Hawking's relationship with his wife from their college years and through his life with ALS. It certainly succeeds in showing how terrifying ALS is as an illness and Eddie Redmayne deserved his Best Actor Oscar, giving humour and humanity to his character and Felicity Jones gives a wonderful performance as his wife Jane, with her complexity of emotions.
Interest levels are sometimes difficult to maintain, but thankfully, the film doesn't hero worship in its portrayal of Hawking, which has to be its ultimate strength.
