Review of The Theory of Everything (2014) by Charlie B — 01 Feb 2016
The Theory of Everything is a positive, uplifting, beautiful story.
Every time things seem to get worse, we see a silver lining to the cloud, a rainbow after the rain; they find a way to make it through and make things better.
Not only is Stephen Hawking considered by many to be a great physicist and thinker of our time, but his life's story is very interesting, and his and Jane's love story is beautiful.
In the end, they may not be together anymore, but there is still love and friendship there. Along their life's journey together, they succeeded many times. In spite of losses, there were many "happy endings". One happy ending after another; they made lemonade out of lemons time and again.
They each found love with someone else eventually, and somehow, that's ok, too. We see how that happened and why, and it all makes sense.
There's some good acting in this. In particular, Eddie Redmayne manages to keep acting even after his speaking lines are gone. There's a lot going on with the postures and expressions.
