What "The Theory of Everything" lacks in substance it makes up for in the transformative and tremendously expressive performance by Eddie Redmayne. He elevates what is otherwise quite a conventional and glossy entry to the biopic genre that is handsomely made, affecting and entertaining in its own right, but not nearly as thought-provoking as it ought to be.
