Review of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) by Jacob T — 28 Dec 2009
The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a classic. The small budget and genuine horror tactics made it a classic. Nispel's remake was not a good film, to be honest. Cinematically speaking, it was pretty horrible.
But being a good film wasn't the intention. This is a film made to grab your attention, not an Oscar, and it does just that. The terror is there, the blood, although not so much needed, is there and the ferocity of the iconic Leatherface is there.
While those aspects are fair game enough, that photographing noise still makes my spine tingle. Genuinely creepy, the film does it's job (not to mention, it also has one of the greatest horror trailers I've ever seen).
If you're having a party compiled of campy slashers, make this the big finale. It'll grab you and will not let go.
