This is when Michael Bay, and his team, started ruining classic horror films from yesteryear by not only retreading what had already been done by better filmmakers, but by doing it worse. Suspense is replaced by gore, story structure is convoluted, and exposition becomes limited.
The original 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' is a brilliantly terrifying horror film which never relied on excess gore, instead gave viewer the impression that it did. Michael Bay doesn't get it, and he has since "butchered" many other classics of the genre since The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
He's a dick.
