Review of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) by Eytan D — 06 Mar 2014
Of course it's not the classic that the original film is and, like most horror remakes, it's not necessary. But this Michael Bay-produced remake is actually better than most people make it out to be.
It doesn't have the black humor the original had, but this "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" has some good tension to go along with its gory kills, a wildly intimidating Leatherface, a cool heroine in Jessica Biel, and a frightening turn from R.
Lee Ermey. The characters often do stupid things, but that's a horror movie for you. And that can be easily forgiven when a remake ably honors the brutality and intensity of the original. Overall, "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is not perfect, but very entertaining.
