Review of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986) by Tristan P — 26 May 2008
Like George A. Romero before him, Tobe Hooper was smart enough to know that trying to top his macabre masterpiece in terms of serious shocks would be next to impossible, and went with the grotesque comedy route.
TCM2 has a kind of EC Comics flavour; Tom Savini's gore effects have rarely been more graphic (maybe in DAY OF THE DEAD...) but the whole movie is so silly that it never becomes gratuitous. This was the film that introduced the great Bill Moseley to horror fans.
