Review of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986) by Ehaarer12 H — 30 Apr 2010
The rest of Tobe Hooper?s career, which reached its nadir with The Mangler in 1995, pretty much proved that The Texas Chain Saw Massacre was gruellingly brilliant more by accident than design. But it appears the rot had set in as early as the mid-?80s, with this risible sequel to the power-tool classic, in which insane ex-ranger Enright (a predictably unrestrained Hopper) is on the hunt for the Sawyer family butchers.
Ludicrous and sadistic by turns, this was originally withdrawn by the distributors after the BBFC insisted on over 20 minutes of cuts. Despite the odd amusing moment from Jim Siedow as the psycho butcher and creative gore from Tom Savini, this really is a mess.
