Review of The Testament of Dr. Mabuse (1933) by Garrett T — 08 Apr 2008
I'm usually disappointed and bored by "classic" films from this era (thanks MTV for decimating my attention span and lowering my standards!), but this one kept me hooked. The plot & storyline and the character of Dr.
Mabuse are intricate and fascinating and make this film much more than just some pulp crime drama. The opening scene is an awesome piece of filmmaking. Some flaws (I'm looking at you, sappy romantic subplot), but a great film overall.
