Review of The Terminators (2009) by Anand K — 22 May 2015
Oh boy... when you want to rip off popular movies... might as well go big or go home! The Terminators went there big time! In this so bad it's bad low budget piece of electrical waste, we get a whole slew of garbage that rips off some classic films, TV, and doesn't even bother going in a different direction really.
So the Terminators are very much modeled after Arnold in their muscle bound short hair look... and the fact they almost all look alike. Instead of time travel we get something more akin to a Battlestar invasion where they first take over the control space station, then all fly up, then all fly back down to invade the planet... or something along those lines.
See the story is a little mashed up. There are a lot of different locations and different characters and none of them really seem to have any reason to interact with each other or even be involved with the film. Instead of picking a single group of survivors, we get all sorts of side stories that are completely unecessary.
I will say that I was surprised to see some actual sets create to represent the space station interior and the interior of space ships but all of that quickly goes to crap once they decide that L.A. makes for a great place for an invasion to happen. Oh and look, lots of abandoned alleys and warehouses to shoot in. Boooooring!
The Terminators has some decent moments but for the most part it is laughable at best and painful for the rest.
