Review of The Terminator (1984) by Michael C — 18 Mar 2014
A classic. Michael Biehn is instantly unforgettable as the bad-ass but all too human resistance fighter Kyle Reese, who is sent back in time to protect Sarah Connor, whose child will become the savior of the human race.
Linda Hamilton is great as Sarah Connor, who we get to watch turn from a frightened child into a hardened and determined soldier. Arnold Schwarzenegger is also immensely enjoyable as the determined machine who WILL NOT DIE, hell bent on killing Sarah Connor and thereby ending the possibility of the human race ever overcoming their robot overlords in the future.
The film is just all kinds of win, and it all builds to one of the most unforgettable climaxes in film history. The effects used to create the final version of The Terminator (his robot form) are still impressive all these years later.
The Terminator put a new, clever spin on the idea of the unstoppable killer and it created a brand that is still remembered fondly by fans.
