Review of The Terminator (1984) by Doctor S — 28 May 2015
I saw the game-changing sequel in the theater, but only now have I finally seen the original! Man from the future comes back to 1984 to protect Linda Hamilton and Linda Hamilton's hair so she can have his baby who will defeat the machines in the future so he can come back to 1984 to protect her and her hair.
...or something like that. Lots of gunfire which was expected, but I was surprised by the number and length of the excitingly filmed car chases. Ahnuld is perfect in the part he was made to play and includes his signature line "I'll be back!" What is not as well remembered is what happens next - he crashes through the front door of the police station with his car! The puppet Terminator skeleton looks great and very menacing, however the stop-motion effects are quite sloppy.
Watch early for James Cameron crony Bill Paxton as a punk with a tire tread face tattoo!
