Review of The Terminator (1984) by Darren B — 27 Jun 2015
To be honest, I didn't like The Terminator (1984) when I first saw it. I thought it was a bit slow, and a bit dated in the visual effects department. Most people enjoy the sequel a lot more.
But after repeat viewings, its a stone cold classic. It combines three specific genres, a gritty 80's action movie, a visionary sci-fi epic, and its even one part horror/slasher. The way the Terminator coldly executes people can attest to that last part.
The flashbacks help flesh out the storyline and running time, but the characters have names you can still remember because they are iconic and well written. This is an iconic, influential, and still quotable science fiction film masterpiece, and nothing anyone else says can change my mind.
