Review of The Terminator (1984) by Shayan S — 28 Jun 2015
The Terminator is widely considered not only James Cameron's best film he's FIRST directed and wrote (next to T2 and Aliens) but also the film that gave us the weird but fun australian action star: Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Do I agree with everyone after re-watching the film? Well yes and no. Now of course the good in the film is that: iconic characters like Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor are done VERY well, the effects are done FANTASTIC for a movie with a 6 million dollar budget, the premise of a robot send back in time, while has been done to DEATH thanks to this film, manages to still holds up very well even for 1984, the backstory on Judgement Day told BRILLIANTLY by Kyle Reese, and of course 'The Terminator', thanks to Arnold's bulky acting (though was it really that hard in the film to find a killing machine that sounds and also is taller than any normal human?).
Though issues such as some its noticeable dated effects, acting from the other characters (even Sarah Connor), and Cameron's uses of camerawork keep me from enjoying it more than T2 and others who liked it.
But overall, its still a film to definitely re-watch or see if your not a fan.
