Review of The Terminator (1984) by Chanelle T — 29 Dec 2015
This is a gem of a movie. It's so taut, with a strong, singular plot line that really helps to accentuate the characters at play - simple, but effectively real. The innocent girl thrown into danger. The loyal, determined soldier who counts his mission as his life. And the relentless, emotionless cyborg who is practically indestructible and will do whatever to achieve his objective without consideration.
It's dark, suspenseful, and a neatly packed action story without too many extra frills (minus it's one weak point - the forced love story that I could do without, though I did find their interaction in the tunnel as they hid out for the night to be sincere and effective). It's the ending that sold it for me, though - usually I'm annoyed by false resolutions, but this was done in a well-paced way that didn't drag on, and I found myself pull right back in each time the action restarted.
Awesome movie. Really stuck with me.
