Review of The Terminal (2004) by Lloyd H — 27 Jan 2013
The Terminal is an underrated film that I think tries it's hardest to please rather than irritate. Sadly it was poorly received by most and never gained the credit it deserved. Tom Hanks is brilliant as always and carries the film single handedly.
I think this is a strong character piece as well as an experience. By Steven Spielberg's standards this is by no means one of his best or most memorable of films. I think Spielberg was too big of a name to be associated with this film and everybody who went to see this film expecting a Spielberg epic was probably more than disappointed.
It's nice to see something different from Spielberg and personally I enjoyed it, but I can see why this film struggled to appeal to everybody. Despite the films unnecessary long duration and pacing issues, the Terminal is a heart warming experience that deserves a second viewing and much more credit.
