Review of The Terminal (2004) by James S — 13 May 2013
The Terminal is a typical feel-good movie attempting to achieve the good guy/bad guy balance where it is clear who the audience should be cheering for. There is little complexity to the characters, however, in its light-heartedness and humour, it does a light and easy job.
The terminal doesn't try to be groundbreaking or incredibly profound, it simple follows a man struggling with language, cultural, and personality differences all around him. It is definitely an interesting movie to a point and brings to light certain issues, but it becomes too "airy-fairy" to be taken too seriously and borders annoyance.
Nice try Spielberg, but this one was a slight hit and miss.
