Didn't Robin Williams do this in Moscow on the Hudson? Hanks is a fantastic actor. Everyone knows that. He's good at playing the misguided and the aloof (Forrest Gump). This movie did NOT do him justice however.
It tries so hard to be charming, but kind of bored me to tears. Maybe it was the story was a retread of Moscow on the Hudson, minus the Red Communist angle. Maybe it was Spielberg ruining yet another plot premise.
Maybe it's just so tired and boring. Don't know.
