Review of The Ten Commandments (1956) by Tomasan — 02 Dec 2008
The Ten Commandments was a truly amazing, epic masterpiece. It was visually stunning, and had a well compiled cast with thousands upon thousands of extras to make for a truly biblical days illusion! Heston was an awesome Moses and Yul Brynner was fantastic as Ramses.
My only complaint about the movie is the actor they used to portray the pharaoh in power before Ramses, he was just too white to be an egyptian! I understand the times were different in the 50's when this film was made, but come on! He is waaay white.
Anyhow, Commandments is right up there with such epics like Jesus of Nazareth and Lawrence of Arabia. Worth watching all the way through at least once. Excellent work of film!
