Review of The Ten Commandments (1956) by Bemina R — 20 Feb 2010
They don't make movies like this one anymore. Sure, the dialog is over the top, but that's what gives the movie its epic biblical feeling. Even on DVD without all the commercials, I still can't watch it in one sitting, it's so long.
Even now, the special effects are still pretty impressive. I think if they remade the movie now, the Angel of Death would be some CGI demon with a flaming sword and that would be infinitely less frightening than the green fog in this movie.
