Review of The Ten Commandments (1956) by Matt M — 02 Jan 2014
Biblical epic telling the story of Moses from his infancy to when he led the Israelites out of Egypt. The story certainly is epic, but isn't ageing well. De Mille may have done his best work during the silent era, his filmmaking is sorely outdated as one can tell quite clearly from his frame composition.
The story is also overstretched though it still has some spectacular sequences and a top notch performance by Heston as Moses; the man was a reliable lead for epic films.
