I have always been a fan of the âAfter Dark: Horrorfestâ? films and this one surely didnâ(TM)t disappoint. Although the acting could have been a little better but this is to be expected from a film of this stature. When going into a non-blockbuster film that isnâ(TM)t being backed by a prestigious studio I see a couple different ways my night could end:

1. I could end up laughing my ass off whether due to the true intensions of the director or not some horror films come of laughingly put together, the acting is terrible at best, the production value is that of a middle school play, and the writing is dumb and obvious. This result generally ends with a good time with a bunch of friends drinking beer, cracking jokes, and watching the hot cheerleader run a crossed the screen half naked being chased by the serial killer in a clearance trick or treat mask.

2. The film could be pissed because the film was thrown together in a haphazard fashion with disregard to plot, contingency, and over all appeal to the audienceâ(TM)s hope to see a legit horror film. This result is a complete waste of time and I donâ(TM)t recommend it at all.

3. The film can be a sleeper and surprise the shit out of you. You could go in thinking this is going to be a said excuse for a horror film and realize that the plot is actually pretty interesting, it catches your attentionâ¦.and the acting isnâ(TM)t bad. Wow did that just happen? I wasnâ(TM)t expecting that twist! Damn the production value on this film is excellent, did I really only pay $1 to rent this bitchinâ(TM) film from Redbox? Yes, yes you did. This is the most accomplishing feeling to get from a late night horror film rental/movie night.

So now that weâ(TM)ve gone over the possible results, lets get to my overall opinion of the film. I loved the interesting and immersive storyline that really kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time, with the help of a few twists here and there. They do a really great job of not letting on to what is truly happening, which is a great accomplishment for a film director and/or writer in todayâ(TM)s day and age where every twist has been done, and people see everything coming. I had moments where I called stuff, but they were heavily outweighed by how many times I was like âdid that just happen,â? or âI was not expecting that.â? The acting was pretty superior for a non-blockbuster film, and as stated previously the production value was excellent. I highly recommend this film to anyone who wants to see a horror film done right. Just enough suspense, just enough gore, just enough everything.

The only part I disliked was the ending, I hated it, and it sucks to say that I probably would have gave this film a 9 at least if the ending was done a different way, and honestly I could have made the ending work better. But it is still worth the watch trust me. I will be purchasing this film.

RECOMMENDED.
